Located about 100 km north of Bucharest in the hilly area near the Carpathian mountains, Slănic is a spa town known for its salt mines and lakes.

There are frequent minibuses from Ploieşti (40 minutes - one hour travel time) and several daily buses from Bucharest (two hours and half); some of their schedules are available on autogari.ro

By train

There are eight or nine commuter trains daily from Ploieşti (80 minutes travel time); timetables are available on the rail operator TFC website .
