Sunnyside

Sunnyside is a city of about 16,000 in the Yakima Valley, on the Columbia River Plateau of Washington State.

Interstate 82 (I-82) runs through Sunnyside, between Yakima and the Tri-Cities (Richland-Kennewick-Pasco).

The city lies approximately 180 mi (290 km) from Seattle to the west, Spokane to the east and Portland to the southwest.

• 46.3231-120.00861 Jerry Taylor Veterans Plaza, E Edison Ave and S 9th St. The plaza was dedicated in 1977, named for former Sunnyside mayor and World War II veteran Jerry Taylor. As of 2021, the memorial consisted of nineteen blocks of granite spanning the length of a city block. The memorial is planned to contain 42 blocks when done and will be the largest such memorial in the Pacific Northwest.  (updated Sep 2025)

• Sunnyside Lighted Farm Implement Parade. Early Dec. The parade includes combines, boom trucks, sprayers, swathers, grape pickers, and all types of tractors decorated with colorful lights. First held in 1989, it is the longest-running parade of its kind in the country. (updated Sep 2026)

Sunnyside is near the center of the Yakima Valley wine region. There's a few tasting rooms downtown.
