[edit | edit source]- 1 Gaomei Wetlands (高美溼地), Meidi St, Qingshui District (about 2 hr from central district via local train and bus 178 ending north side aka near dock, or 1 hr 30 min with bus 309 ending south aka No. 18 windmill (long interval ~1 hr in both cases, last bus 309 around 19:30 at No. 18 Windmill 18號風車 stop)). Dock 08:00-19:00 (closing per sunset, sooner or later and possible closing around high tide). Popular spot for sunset. If low tide, can walk on wet sand at the end of the dock. If high tide or near, may have a nice sky mirror effect. Walking the dock one-way is about 15 min and may see small crabs and mud keepers, eventually migratory birds depending on the seasons. The path between the dock and No. 18 windmill is about 30 min walk. If staying late and depending on the seasons, have some mosquito repellent. See below some nearby points of interest. Free.
- 2 Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Center (高美濕地遊客中心) (an 800-meter walk to the south), ☏ +886-4-2611-1566. 10:00-19:00. Few shops, toilets, water fountain.
- 3 Container "Mountain". If you are going to the Gaomei Wetlands, take a stop at this surreal place where dozens of containers are stacked up and offer an interesting photo opportunity.
