I think the new image I suggest is better than the existing banner image.

Split into districts?

[edit source]
Map of Jeju City with mainly the boundaries of Myeon and Eup represented. All the dongs are represented as a whole as sinaedong (Template:Korean).

A student asked me if they could create a page for Aewol-eup. Our current article does not explain the division present in Wikipedia article, although we do use terms liek Aewol-eup in our listing addreses. Disctrictization might be warranted, although I am not sure if we should base it on this table? See also related image

Town/township (Korean) population (2024)
Aewol-eup 애월읍 38,009
Gujwa-eup 구좌읍 15,203
Hallim-eup 한림읍 20,467
Jocheon-eup 조천읍 25,918
Chuja-myeon 추자면 1,580
Hangyeong-myeon 한경면 9,563
Udo-myeon 우도면 1,583

Hello, thank you for sharing your idea with us. There is a (dormant) discussion here about trying to improve the Jeju article by dividing the island into north, south, east and west articles. I think agreement was reached years ago but nothing was done.
I visited Jeju a few years ago and I found the current "Jeju City" and "Seogwipo City" divisions of Jeju to be useless for tourists.
Responding to your idea, I do not think breaking up north Jeju (Jeju City) into all those eups will be useful for tourists either. The whole north coast is more or less one contiguous built-up area and I saw little distinction between the eups. So I disagree with districtisation as you have suggested because it is complicated and not useful. Sgroey (talk) 00:46, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Sgroey Fair point. So what is your preferred way to do so? If we use NSWE division, how do we determine the borders? Here the eups might be of use (West, Central, East?, grouping them in twos?), as I don't see how else to do it... Of course, we may just let this sleep for a while longer. The North and South (Seogwipo) of Jeju are effectively county equivalents, it's a good division. It's just the question of whether Jeju City should be districtified and how?
