This title of this article needs to be changed to Jilin (province) in order to avoid confusion with Jilin (city). Michael 11:36, 24 June 2006 (UTC).
Food
[edit]I don't know if I really need to say this on the talk page, but I'm going to add some food to the eat section. Also, the drink section has me confused. Why do some list locations and some list drinks? Do I have to add locations to the food section or can I just add cuisine. I have family from Jilin, so I feel comfortable writing about this. I'm just a little confused as this is one of my first times editing on Wikivoyage. AtTheTownHouse (talk) 04:17, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Any food or drinks that are specialties of Jilin should be mentioned. If there are particular cities best known for X or Y dish or drink, they should be mentioned and linked. If you're asking whether there should be any listings of specific restaurants or bars at the province level, the answer is: no, they should be in the relevant city articles. I'm guessing the bar listings in "Drink" were caused by confusion between Jilin province and Jilin city and should be moved to Jilin (city) if they are still in business. Tibet#Eat and Tibet#Drink are fairly OK examples, or you could also look at Guangdong#Eat. To go outside China, Kerala#Eat might be too detailed: I have to wonder how up-to-date the price list is, but I otherwise like the "Eat" and "Drink" sections, and I'd much rather risk excessive detail that can be moved elsewhere and pared in this article down to a summary than too little detail. Look at the Chinese cuisine article, too, but there's very little coverage of Northeast China in that article. w:Jilin cuisine is a much more useful reference, but keep in mind that it's best not to just duplicate that but that it would be most helpful to provide more detail on where a traveler could best find these items and what kind of selection a traveler would most commonly see in a restaurant in Jilin province. Street food and food available at markets is also good to mention. I visited Changchun in 2004, and I enjoyed the flatbread that was cooked on griddles on the street there.
