Tana

Tana (Sámi: Deatnu) is a municipality in Finnmark, named after the main river of Finnmark, Europe's most important salmon river. It's an important hub in the area, right across the border from Finland, and a centre of Sami culture. The main village, Tana bru, is named after the famous bridge of E6 over the river.

The closest airports are in Kirkenes (KKN ^IATA), Lakselv (LKL ^IATA) and Ivalo (IVL ^IATA).

There are coach services by the E6 through Tana bru. In summer (?) there are also daily coaches from Finland, from Rovaniemi via Utsjoki.

Tana has a small selection of cafés, restaurants and roadside food stops. Tana bru is the main place to eat, while Austertana and Rustefjelbma have options further along the road.
