Tongjing (铜井镇, Tóngjǐng) is a town in Yinan County, in the Linyi area of Shandong, China. Its rural attractions include the spring-fed lanes of Zhuquan Village, the lakeside Hongshizhai resort and the orchards of Maquan. The sights are spread across several villages, so plan transport between them rather than treating the town as one compact attraction.
Understand
[edit | edit source]
History
[edit | edit source]Zhuquan Village was formerly called Quanshangzhuang and acquired its present name during the Qing dynasty. Its springs shaped the settlement: houses, stone paths and bamboo groves grew around the water. Tourism development preserved the old village while residents moved to newly built homes. The historic village opened to visitors as a scenic area in 2009.
Orientation
[edit | edit source]The town center is south of the main sightseeing cluster. Zhuquan, Hongshizhai and Maquan are separate destinations: use the attraction's Chinese name when arranging a ride. This is Tongjing in Yinan County (沂南县); do not confuse it with the place of the same name near Nanjing.

Tongjing has cold, relatively dry winters and hot, rainy summers. At nearby Yinan station, average daily highs reach about 31°C in July, while January nights average about −5°C. Just over half of the year's precipitation falls in July and August, so summer visits to the village lanes and lakeside attractions can be interrupted by heavy rain.
April–May and September–October are milder periods for walking between the springs, bamboo groves and old houses. Spring and autumn evenings can still be cool. The chart uses nearby Yinan station rather than measurements taken in Tongjing itself; conditions in the surrounding hills may differ.
Planning a visit
[edit | edit source]For a village-and-waterfront day, combine Zhuquan with Hongshizhai. For orchards and seasonal fruit picking, include Maquan instead. An overnight stay leaves more time for the three sites, but requires arranging transport between them. Confirm admission arrangements with each operator; a room booking or a ticket for one site does not necessarily cover the others.
Get in
[edit | edit source]Tongjing is in Yinan County, north of central Linyi. For rail and air arrivals, plan the road transfer to Tongjing separately. Use the attraction's Chinese name when arranging the final leg: Zhuquan Village (竹泉村), Hongshizhai (红石寨) and Maquan Leisure Park (沂蒙马泉休闲园) are separate destinations.
By train
[edit | edit source]- 1 Yinan railway station (沂南站), Xinji Town, Yinan County. A railway station outside the county seat, rather than in Tongjing. Check China Railway 12306 for passenger services on your travel date before planning to arrive here; do not assume that a station shown on a map has a usable passenger service. Arrange onward road transport separately.
- 2 Linyi North railway station (临沂北站), Baishabu, Lanshan District, Linyi. A high-speed railway gateway to the Linyi area. Check trains through China Railway 12306, then arrange a road transfer to Tongjing or travel via the Yinan county seat. This station is outside Tongjing; a train ticket does not include the onward journey.
For a public-transport approach from Linyi North, take K21 to the Linyi long-distance bus station interchange (临沂汽车站换乘中心 / 临沂汽车总站), then take an intercity service to Yinan Bus Station (沂南汽车站). From there, follow the local transfer instructions below. Check the current coach departure before making this multi-leg journey; an arranged car can avoid these changes.
By plane
[edit | edit source]- 3 Linyi Qiyang International Airport (临沂启阳国际机场), Hedong District, Linyi. The regional airport for Linyi (IATA: LYI); see Linyi#By_plane for airport information. For a bus-based approach, take the T6 airport–railway link (空铁专线) to Linyi North railway station, then continue via the coach connection described above. This involves several changes. A car arranged directly to your destination in Tongjing is the simpler alternative. Check T6 departures through the Linyi Bus app or the airport information desk; allow for waits between services.
By bus
[edit | edit source]- 4 Yinan Bus Station (沂南汽车站), Intersection of West Ring Road and Yingbin Avenue, Jiehu, ☏ +86 539-3236000. The county's intercity coach terminal. Ask the station about services from your departure city and the last return departure. Tongjing and its attractions require a separate onward journey.
From Yinan Bus Station, a practical transfer is a taxi to the Oriental Shopping Square stop (东方购物广场) in the county seat, followed by Yinan route 3 toward Sanshanyu Bus Station (三山峪车站). The published stop list includes Tongjing town government (铜井镇政府), Zhuquan Village Scenic Area (竹泉村景区) and Hongshizhai (红石寨). Tell the driver which of these you need. This is a separate local transfer: route 3 is not listed as starting at the intercity coach terminal. If traveling to Maquan, arrange a ride to its entrance rather than assuming the same bus serves it.
For local route and last-bus enquiries, the published number for Yinan Shengtong Bus Company (沂南县盛通公交有限责任公司) is +86 539-3260105. Confirm the current route before setting out; published route lists are not live departure boards.
By car or taxi
[edit | edit source]For Zhuquan, enter 沂南县铜井镇竹泉村 in a navigation app. For Hongshizhai, use 沂南县铜井镇红石寨; for Maquan, use 沂蒙马泉休闲园. Including Yinan County avoids confusion with other places named Tongjing. When arranging a taxi or hired car, agree on the destination entrance, pickup point, waiting arrangements and return journey.
Get around
[edit | edit source]
By bus
[edit | edit source]Route 3 follows the Tongjing–Zhuquan–Hongshizhai corridor. For travel from Tongjing toward Zhuquan or Hongshizhai, look for the direction marked 三山峪车站; for the return to the county seat, confirm the opposite direction with the driver. Use the attraction stop name rather than simply asking for Tongjing. Check the last return departure with Yinan Shengtong (+86 539-3260105); the route does not establish a connection to every resort.
By car or taxi
[edit | edit source]A car or prearranged ride provides more flexibility for visiting several attractions. Use the entrance name as the pickup location rather than only the park name. The Maquan marker on this map identifies its southeast entrance, not the center of the park. Confirm parking arrangements at each attraction; agree on any waiting charge when hiring a vehicle.
On foot
[edit | edit source]Walking is useful inside the village attractions, especially Zhuquan's lanes. The sights are spread across separate villages, so check the actual walking route and distance before setting out between them. A short-looking gap on the map does not establish that there is a convenient pedestrian connection.
By bicycle
[edit | edit source]Bring a bicycle or confirm a rental with your accommodation before choosing cycling as your main way of getting around. A bike-share service shown in the Yinan county seat does not establish coverage or a permitted return area in Tongjing. Check the provider's service boundary and return rules before riding out to the villages. Check whether the scenic areas allow bicycles inside; rental cycles intended for use within an attraction may not be available for journeys between villages.
Within scenic areas
[edit | edit source]Zhuquan Village offers a sightseeing train among its visitor activities. Check its route, operating days and any separate charge with the scenic area (+86 539-3826666). It is an on-site visitor service, not a railway connection to Yinan or Linyi. Walking remains useful for exploring the village lanes.
See and do
[edit | edit source]
- 1 Zhuquan Village (竹泉村), Zhuquan Village, ☏ +86 539-3826666. A former village developed as a scenic area, with spring water running among bamboo groves, stone houses and old lanes. Look for the relationship between the watercourses and the village layout. Crafts associated with the village include bamboo weaving and pottery. Recreation options include grass sledding, rafting, a sightseeing train and a petting zoo. Contact the scenic area for operating days, age restrictions and separate charges; these activities are within the attraction rather than transport between villages.
- 2 Hongshizhai (红石寨), Near Zhuquan Village, ☏ +86 539-3826666. A leisure area beside Zhaizi Reservoir, also known as Xiangshan Lake, with red-stone buildings, waterfront scenery and recreation facilities. Exhibitions within the resort cover intangible cultural heritage, oil lamps and drinking vessels. Nearby Zhuquan offers village lanes and traditional crafts.
- 1 Maquan Leisure Park (沂蒙马泉休闲园), Maquan Village, Quanxiang Avenue (The marker identifies the southeast entrance), ☏ +86 539-3828815. An agricultural leisure park with orchards, landscaped grounds and displays about rural culture. Activities include seasonal fruit picking. Before visiting, ask which fruit is available to pick and whether fruit picking requires payment in addition to the admission fee.
Buy
[edit | edit source]Local products include dried persimmons, fruit juices and other orchard produce. Zhuquan also has traditional craft activities; ask whether the item you are buying was made locally.
Eat
[edit | edit source]Look for Yimeng-style stir-fried chicken (沂蒙炒鸡) and thin pancakes (煎饼), often eaten with scallions. Zhuquan also serves bamboo-tube meals (竹筒宴) and multi-dish Yimeng meals known as the “eight bowls” (八大碗). Resort meals are often shared, so check the number of diners covered by a set menu.
Drink
[edit | edit source]Maquan produces cherry and grape juices as well as fruit wine (果酒). Distinguish juice (果汁) from wine when choosing local orchard drinks.
Sleep
[edit | edit source]- Maquan Qisu Shijiushe (马泉栖宿十九舍), Maquan Leisure Park, Maquan Village, ☏ +86 539-3828815. Accommodation within the Maquan tourism complex. The park also has Shishang Bieyuan (石尚别院) and Yuebanwan Inn (月半湾客栈); specify the property when enquiring.
- Zhuquan Village guesthouses (竹泉村精品民宿), Inside Zhuquan Village scenic area, ☏ +86 539-3826666. Guesthouses in converted stone village houses. Courtyards vary in layout, with family rooms and options for several families sharing a courtyard. Specify the courtyard and room arrangement when booking.
- Hongshizhai cabins (红石寨木屋别墅), Hongshizhai scenic area, ☏ +86 539-3826666. Cabin accommodation within the resort, an alternative to Zhuquan's village courtyards. Ask whether scenic-area admission is included in the room rate.
Confirm the current room rate, entrance and check-in arrangements with the property. The three complexes are separate; choose accommodation near the attraction where you want to spend most of your time.
