One of my major travel goals is to eventually spend significant time in New York City.

I love the idea of experiencing the city as a place to actually live rather than simply visiting it: riding the subway, walking different neighborhoods, discovering restaurants, visiting museums, and seeing how the city changes from one borough to another.

My philosophy is basically this; and yes, you may quote me in the future:

Don't just visit a place. Experience it.

These are some of the places I'd especially like to visit someday. The list will probably grow considerably over time!

New York City — A major personal travel goal. I'm interested in experiencing the city's neighborhoods, food, museums, architecture, public transportation, and everyday life.

Washington, D.C. — American history, government, monuments, museums, and the city's distinctive neighborhoods.

Boston — History, architecture, universities, museums, and New England culture.

Philadelphia — American history, historic neighborhoods, museums, and food.

Charleston — Historic architecture, Southern culture, and the city's food scene.

There are plenty of other places I'd love to visit as I get the opportunity. I'm especially interested in destinations where I can combine local food, history, culture, photography, and simply wandering around and seeing what I find.
