Welcome
[edit]
Hello 69.167.204.2! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Thanks for your edits to St. Joseph (Missouri)! I did partially undo some of them. Please click here to read my edit summary, explaining why. Thanks again!
All the best,

- Hi. Please note the following:
- If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- The fact that a hotel or restaurant is listed at all is subjective, and whatever is stated about it other than the most obvious things is an opinion. This is not Wikipedia. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:17, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, but by that logic, every food/drink should have a tag. While Edit Warring is not my goal, and I understand this is not Wikipedia, I see this as completely unnecessary. I don't mind the warning itself when applied to the candy bar, but I think it sets a precedent that is frankly absurd. 69.167.204.2 16:18, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- I haven't tried the item in question, but the idea that all foodstuffs are equally likely to be acquired tastes is not persuasive. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:10, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Exact reasoning aside, I still fail to see why the tag is necessary. 69.167.204.2 18:21, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Could you describe the taste? Could you understand why some people might not like it? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:24, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- I can do such a thing, again, for many foods. Coffee, for one. Many people like or dislike broccoli, or cantaloupe. The fact that some people may not like it is not reason enough, lest we add a similar tag to every coffee shop on the site. 69.167.204.2 20:38, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not buying it. Petai (stink bean), tempoyak (fermented durian sauce), stinky cheeses and stinky tofu are a hell of a lot more likely to be disliked than, say, white meat chicken. But you can start a thread at Talk:St. Joseph (Missouri) if you hate the parenthetical statement (no longer a warning) that this foodstuff can be an acquired taste.
