Hello, Visitgalveston! Thank you for contributing to Wikivoyage, but please note that one or more of your recent edits has been reverted as it appeared to be an attempt to use this site to advertise or promote a business or service. Wikivoyage is created by travellers for travellers, and while business owners and employees are welcome to contribute, use of this site for promotional purposes is not allowed.
If you feel that your edits were incorrectly identified as promotional, please read Wikivoyage's guidelines on identifying promotional edits. If, after reading that guideline, you still feel your edits were incorrectly removed, please use this talk page or the talk page of the article where your edit was removed to explain why your change was not promotional. Note that it is very important that you discuss your proposed change before re-adding it since repeated promotional edits can lead to a temporary block of your account's ability to edit Wikivoyage, and in serious cases the business in question may be blacklisted from Wikivoyage. Also read WV:Tone, WV:External links and WV:Goals and non-goals - no travel blogs or aggregators can be linked. Thanks for understanding, Ibaman (talk) 18:15, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- your edits are really out of line with WV:MoS and WV:Tone and full of Words to avoid. Please read policy. Ibaman (talk) 19:31, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello,
- We’re reaching out to understand why our account has been blocked for three days. Recently, we updated the cruise section to accurately reflect the cruise lines that sail from Galveston and removed outdated museum and RV resort pricing from years ago.
- Could we get clarification from an admin on the reason for the block? Our goal is to provide accurate updates, not promotional content. We’d appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.
- Thank you!!! Visitgalveston (talk) 18:23, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- clarification: you did not read Don't tout or WV:Tone and used a lot of Words to avoid. Also you keep trying to insert your link. About this, please read or reread WV:Goals and non-goals#Non-goals and WV:External links#What not to link to. We really don't want to have links to other travel guides or travel blogs, and we don't like promotional prose either. Ibaman (talk) 18:33, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- I just wanted to check in—could you explain why it's not okay to use our website instead of the current one? Since Visit Galveston is the official destination marketing organization for the island and a nonprofit government agency, we want to make sure we're directing visitors to the right place. The current link goes to Galveston.com, which is a private company.
- Other than that, I'll revisit our edits and take another look at the guidelines to make sure we're aligned. Appreciate it Visitgalveston (talk) 21:45, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

Having checked the whole website, I must apologize for the haste of blocking you. Your edits sounded really promotional, and we are always on high alert against spammers, touts and vandals. Please plunge forward, but mind WV:Tone and Don't tout. Ibaman (talk) 21:55, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- No worries at all! Thank you for getting back with us—we understand the need to be cautious. Visitgalveston (talk) 17:38, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
