Ustka

Ustka is a city in Pomorskie, Poland, on the coast of Pommerania at a wide sandy beach. Ustka is a very popular summer destination for domestic tourism.

There is no airport really near to Mielno. These two are the closest ones:

• Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport, 140 km east from Ustka.
• Solidarity Szczecin–Goleniów Airport SZZ ^IATA, 200 km southwest from Ustka.

From Gdańsk or Szczecin by the route E28 to Slupsk and then just north to the coast by the 210.

The urban city centre is flat and highly straightforward to explore.

• Walking: The eastern commercial district, public parks, and beachfront promenades are entirely pedestrian-friendly.
• The Ustka Footbridge:
  • A spectacular, modern pedestrian drawbridge (Kładka w Ustce) spanning across the Słupia River, allowing visitors to walk seamlessly between the eastern resort district and the Western Dunes within minutes.
• Local taxis:
  • Private radio-taxis can be chartered at the railway stations or major Hotel Desks for short hops across the township blocks. Fares are highly affordable.

A long, beautifully landscaped seaside boardwalk tracking the main Sandy Beach Line. It is lined with traditional cafes, ice cream parlors, historical monuments, and features a prominent statue of the Ustka Syrenka (Mermaid) looking out to sea. Free.

A striking, historic red-brick octagonal lighthouse constructed by German engineers in 1892. Climbing the narrow internal spiral stairs to the upper observation platform provides a spectacular, sweeping panoramic view over the harbor shipping lanes and the open Baltic Sea. Budget ticket fee applies.  
• 54.583516.8483 The Blücher Bunkers (Bunkry Blüchera), Ulica Westerplatte (hidden deep within the coastal pine forest dunes of the western side), ☏ +48663715104. Daily 10:00 - 18:00. A fascinating, beautifully preserved underground Concrete Fortress Complex constructed by German forces in the 1930s. It features interactive historical exhibitions, realistic wax figures, multimedia displays, and deep bunker tunnels detailing the coastal defence military history of the Baltic region during World War II. Moderate ticket fee; audio guides available.  

• Relax at a marine spa: Treat yourself to therapeutic mud wraps or hot mineral water baths at the historic Grand Lubicz Spa Resort, taking advantage of the city's certified health resort waters.
• Take a galleon ship cruise: Board a traditional, wooden replica pirate ship (such as the Galeon Dragon) docked along the eastern harbour pier to enjoy an open-sea evening cruise across the breaking waves of the Baltic.

Shopping in Ustka focuses heavily on traditional seaside souvenirs, Baltic amber jewelry, and fresh local maritime catches.

• Baltic amber jewellery: Specialized artisan boutique shops along Marynarki Polskiej Street sell exceptional, certified necklaces, rings, and decorative carvings crafted from raw local amber (Bursztyn).
• Fresh and smoked fish: Drop into local smokehouses near the harbor docks to buy delicious, authentic hot-smoked flounder (Stornia), salmon, and cod prepared using multi-generational family wood-fire methods.
