[edit | edit source]Vargem Grande Paulista is a municipality in the western part of the São Paulo Metropolitan Area, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It is known for its green surroundings, residential neighbourhoods and proximity to the large urban centre of São Paulo. Vargem Grande Paulista has a population of around 50,000 people. Despite being part of the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the municipality has a relatively green and semi-rural character in many areas.
The local economy is based mainly on commerce, services, small industries and agriculture. Its location along important roads makes it a convenient residential area for people working in the western metropolitan region.
