Vrbnik

Vrbnik is a picturesque town on high cliff above the sea. It is the home of a good wine, "Vrbnička žlahtina".

Vrbnik is a historic hilltop town on the eastern coast of Krk Island, Croatia. It overlooks the Adriatic Sea and is known for its medieval old town, narrow stone streets, traditional architecture and local wine. Vrbnik has a total population of about 1,200 people. The town is built on a limestone cliff above the sea, giving it impressive views over the surrounding coastline and the mainland.

Vrbnik is particularly famous for Vrbnička žlahtina, a dry white wine produced from the indigenous Žlahtina grape. Vineyards around the town are an important part of the local landscape and economy.

Tourism is important, especially during the summer. Visitors come for the historic centre, beaches, wine, traditional food and peaceful atmosphere.

From the Krk bridge follow the signs for Baska. After about 30 km you will see signposts for Vrbnik.

On foot! Vrbnik is hilltop town with small narrow streets not suitable for cars.

"Vrbnička žlahtina" wine. It is grown on the fields around Vrbnik and it is one of the best white wines in Croatia.

Go to a man called Osipic. Everybody knows him in town. He's a fisherman and rents out apartments to tourists. Definitely the best place to stay and should not miss his famous grilled fish.
