[edit | edit source]Wangaratta lies on the Hume Freeway between Sydney and Melbourne.
By train
[edit | edit source]Since the standard gauge conversion of the Victorian section of the line, the day and night NSW Trainlink XPT services between Sydney and Melbourne stop at Wangaratta. Two V/Line train services to Albury, together with connecting V/Line bus services to Seymour.

[edit | edit source]The city has some fine buildings including a number of art deco
- Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral.
- Art Deco Courthouse.
Do
[edit | edit source]- Cycling. Wangaratta is at the start of the Murray to the Mountains rail trail. Over 100 km (62 mi) of interesting, sealed, off-road cycling.
- Warby-Ovens National Park (about 10 minutes drive from Wangaratta). The Warby Ranges are a set of small hills near town. Great for bushwalking but can get very hot in summer. The park extends to the Ovens River which flows beside the hills

[edit | edit source]Wangaratta is a major centre for the region, and has a major shopping area, and extensive range of goods.
Eat
[edit | edit source]There are plenty of cafes in the city centre
- Shelley's Bakery, 67A Reid Street. cafe/bakery serving light lunches. Inexpensive and popular.
Drink
[edit | edit source]- There are a dozen wineries within 30 minutes drive of Wangaratta. Some offer food and accommodation.
