Wirye

Wirye New Town is a planned city developed across Jangji-dong and Geoyeo-dong in Songpa-gu, Seoul; Changgok-dong in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam-si; and Hagam-dong in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is named after Wiryeseong.

The name Wirye New Town originates from Wiryeseong, the capital of Baekje, one of the three kingdoms during the Three Kingdoms period of Korea. The area was subsequently merged and split into various administrative divisions, eventually taking on its current administrative names through multiple boundary reorganizations. It was previously a greenbelt zone where development was restricted, but the restrictions were lifted in 2005, and it came to be called Wirye New Town following the 2008 master plan. The initial move-ins began in December 2013, starting with the two complexes: Wirye Complex 22 and Complex 24.
