Wondo Genet

Wondo Genet is a small resort town 15 km south of Shashamane in Southern Ethiopia. It's known for its sizzling hot springs and hiking opportunities.

Buses and minibuses run from Shashamane to Wondo Washa. A bajaj can take you the final 3km from Wondo Washa to Wondo Genet.

• Hot Springs Swimming Pool and Spa. Taking advantage of the hot spring water, this complex features a large, sectioned swimming pool where the water varies from hot to sizzling. Outdoor showers let you clean off underneath the shade of palm trees. Go early before the locals show up in droves. Keep your eyes open for birds, monkeys, and baboons. 25 birr. 

• Abyssinia Hotel, Wondo Washa. 3km away from Wondo Genet, this is the cheapest option you'll find. 40 birr as of June 2014.
