Woolgoolga (often called Woopi) is a relaxed coastal town on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. Known for its long sandy beaches, strong Sikh heritage, and laid-back holiday vibe, it’s a popular stop along the Pacific Highway and a gateway to quieter coastal stretches.

[edit | edit source]Woolgoolga sits just off the Pacific Highway about 25 km north of Coffs Harbour. It and is easily reached by car from Coffs Harbour (around 20 minutes). The nearest major station is at Coffs Harbour and local bus services operate north to Woolgoolga, though services can be infrequent. The nearest airport is Coffs Harbour Airport, with regular flights from Sydney and Brisbane.

[edit | edit source]- 1 Woolgoolga Beach. A wide, clean stretch of sand ideal for swimming, surfing, and long walks. The headland offers excellent views up and down the coast, especially at sunrise.
- 2 Guru Nanak Sikh Temple (Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara), 1-13 River St, ☏ +61 481 103 206. One of the largest Sikh temples in regional Australia, reflecting the town’s significant Punjabi community. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times (dress modestly).
- 3 Arrawarra. A quiet coastal locality just north of Woolgoolga, known for its uncrowded beaches and consistent surf. It’s a great spot to escape the busier main beach and enjoy a more natural, undeveloped stretch of coastline.
