Ypacarai

Ypacarai is a small town around 40km from Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Buses pass through it on the way to San Bernardino and other destinations to the east. It is very small, but quite pleasant. A nice place to stop for an hour if you have the time.

Buses from Asuncion or Aregua to destinations east of Ypacarai lake will stop here - Ypacarai is on the large, well paved main road.

Get around

[edit | edit source]

On foot. Everything is walking distance.

  • The plaza. Nice, green space to sit in the shade.
  • The unusually shaped church. Concrete construction. Large, more conventional hall in the rear.

Look around, have lunch and move on.

Limited number of craft stores; minimarkets and pharmacies.

Several hamburguesa/lomito places and street stalls.

Drink

[edit | edit source]

Small bars with tables and chairs outside.

Sleep

[edit | edit source]

The only hotel in town appears to be very much closed. Aregua or San Bernardino are much better options for sleeping.
