Cardona (Rizal)

Cardona is a town in the province of Rizal, Philippines. At the boundary between the urban conurbation extending from Metro Manila and eastern Rizal, it is a fishing and agriculture-oriented town where rural Rizal is said to begin.

Cardona is situated at the eastern slope of the Morong Peninsula, a spur of the Sierra Madre that forms its western boundary with Binangonan and other urbanized towns of Rizal province.

Cardona also occupies the eastern part of Talim, an island in the middle of Laguna de Bay that it shares with Binangonan.

Get in

Cardona is traversed by Manila East Road, the main transport artery in lakeside Rizal.

There are jeepneys running EDSA Crossing/Starmall in Mandaluyong to Tanay, all of which pass through Cardona.

Get around

Much of town lies on upland promontories with many sharp curves and rolling terrain.

A one-way traffic scheme is implemented in downtown Cardona.

To get to Talim Island, take the ferry at Cardona Port.

Landslides in the rainy season and grassfires in the dry season frequently occur in the rural barangays of the Morong Peninsula.

Swimming in Laguna de Bay is not recommended due to pollution, heavy usage by the fishing industry and its volatile mood.
