Morong is a municipality in the province of Rizal in the Philippines. The town is at the top of Morong Peninsula with shores on Laguna de Bay and is a vibrant cultural hub.
Understand
[edit | edit source]The town's name was once the name of the entire province of Rizal. It is the educational center of the province and was the provincial capital until 1901, when it was moved to Pasig. It is home to about 72,000 people (census, 1 July 2024) 
Get in
[edit | edit source]Morong is traversed by Manila East Road, the main transport artery in lakeside Rizal, and is a stop on the jeepney routes connecting Metro Manila and western Rizal with the eastern half of the province.
North of downtown Morong, at the boundaries of Barangays San Juan and Maybancal, is Morong Junction, with a highway leading to Teresa and Antipolo. It is also a stop on the Antipolo-Pililla minibus route.

- 1 Morong Church (St. Jerome Parish Church), Turentigue Street, San Jose, ☏ +63 939 232 3292, saintjeromeparish.morong@gmail.com. Morong's main Roman Catholic church and a designated National Cultural Treasure by the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA). It was built by Chinese craftsmen during the Spanish era in a unique and intricate neo-baroque architectural style. It is one of a few churches in the Philippines whose belfry is built above its façade.
- 2 Morong Comandancia (Old Municipal Building), Governor Tupas Street, San Pedro (in front of the town plaza), likasmorong1@gmail.com. Mon-Sat 8AM–5PM; closed Sun. The town's old municipal hall and police garrison during the Spanish and American occupations. The ground floor hosts the Morong Municipal Tourism Office, while the second floor houses the Museong Pambayan ng Morong (Morong Museum), which has exhibitions on local history and sells a few souvenirs. At the side of the building is an Art Deco gazebo built during the American period. ₱150 for Morong Museum, P250 with photography.
- 3 Cavalier Monument, Manila East Rd, Maybancal. An equestrian statue on the junction between Manila East Road and J.P. Rizal Street leading to the town propers of Baras, Tanay and Pililla.
- 4 Duckling Society. A recreational spot on the estuary formed by the Morong River as it enters Laguna de Bay
