Nagtipunan

Nagtipunan is a municipality in Quirino.

Understand

[edit | edit source]

Established in 1983 from several barangays of Maddela, Nagtipunan is the largest municipality in Quirino, occupying the province's entire southern half. Its name means "gathering place", either for its mixed population of indigenous Bugkalot and Aeta tribes and Ilocano migrants, or the convergence of multiple tributaries of the upper Cagayan River in the area. Much of the town is covered in forested mountains.

Get in

[edit | edit source]

Nagtipunan is along Cordon-Diffun-Aurora Road, the main thoroughfare in Quirino. There are passenger vans connecting the town with Santiago, while the bus from Santiago City to Dinapigue via Aurora also passes through town.

Since the 2020s, construction has been ongoing to connect Nagtipunan with Dupax del Norte in Nueva Vizcaya.

Get around

[edit | edit source]

Tricycles are the main form of public transportation within town. Access to the outlying barangays, where most natural attractions are located, requires a 4WD and bouts of hiking.
