Puumala

Puumala is a town and municipality in South Savonia, right in the middle of Lake Saimaa.

Puumala is at the scenic highway 62 going from Imatra to Mikkeli. Regional road 434 comes in from the direction of Juva.

Buses between Imatra and Mikkeli stop at Puumala. Moreover, there are buses from Savonlinna via Sulkava.

Also an option if you're sailing on Lake Saimaa. There have been lake cruises, but as of 2023 information online is scarce.

Puumala has a dial-a-ride service. Rides must be booked directly with the driver the day before, and the fare charged is the same as the current bus fare.

Other members of the public may also travel on routes used for school and extracurricular transport—provided there is space available—by paying the standard bus fare. Remember to call the transport operator in advance whenever you intend to use the service.
