Sim

[edit source]

Do you think it is worth mentioning under 'Cope' that sim cards are not available for foreign nationals in India, as I have found many foreigners are surprised to discover this reality. I usually borrow from friends and so don't know how to get around the system, but some foreigners may be able to offer street-wise advise on how to get a sim. Just a thought. SingyeDzong

@SingyeDzong: Not Sbb here, but I'd say it's worth mentioning. Even though I'd imagine most people would be using foreign global eSIMs (like Saily, Airalo or Holafly), it is still worth mentioning in the instances where you might need a local phone number. //shb (t • c) 06:25, 18 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
The "Connect" section already mentions the fact, as SIM comes under the "Connect" section per WV:STICK. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 06:29, 18 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are right. It's already mentioned under connect, though I don't think it is usual for Jio or other mobile phone stores to sell sim cards to foreign nationals. Even foreigners who live in India generally have to get sim cards through local contacts. Certainly, they are not available for sale at international airports, as they usually are in other countries. Chores

[edit source]

Yes, I hoped some one would reinstate the row, in corrected form. I assumed the original author wanted to get up to a billion, and I don't know whether that is called a hundred chore or something else. A billion is much, so I suppose it isn't essential for most travellers to know that number – leaving it at ten chore is better than getting into the weeds. Thanks for the edit. –LPfi (talk) 10:20, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

It was purely my oversight, and one billion is either 100 crore or one arab, depending on the way how Indians count numbers above 10 crore (100 million). Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 10:24, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Don't move articles unilaterally

[edit source]

I routinely revert such actions per the cautionary part of the wv:plunge forward page. It's a really bad look for you to do that: think about the example you're setting. I suggest you revert yourself on Lonavala, post a thread on the article's talk page explaining why you want to move the article, and wait a couple of days in case someone objects. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:45, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Oh thank you. I reverted it and posted a thread on the talk page. I thought it's uncontroversial to rename to a spelling that is more common by a significant margin. I will keep it in mind while renaming high-visibility articles in the future. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 07:27, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it will be uncontroversial, but we need to follow Wikivoyage policy and guidelines, and not just for high-visibility articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:06, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 11:12, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, but please be mindful about these things. A look through the archives of your user talk page shows that we've repeatedly had discussions about unilateral actions you've taken. Being an admin puts an added responsibility on us to follow policies and guidelines and thereby be an example to others, even in cases like this that won't be controversial. Sorry to lecture a bit.
