About wikivoyage temple

Hi, can someone let me know what is the mediawiki skin used in wikivoyage please? TharangaMunaweera (talk) 10:05, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We use Vector 2022, if that's what you were wondering. //shb (t | c | m) 10:42, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To add a bit of detail and links: Vector 2022 is documented on MediaWiki. Wikivoyage-specific information related to it can be found at Wikivoyage:Vector 2022. We do have some manual overrides in place for Vector 2022 to ensure its compatibility with Wikivoyage's needs, which can be found here. Justification for those overrides can be found on the associated talk page.

Vector 2022 is the default skin, as decided by the WMF. However, logged-in users can choose other ones, such as legacy Vector or Monobook, default on Wikipedia in days of yore. At least those two alternatives are in use by some regulars. And on mobile, the default is Minerva, isn't it? –LPfi (talk) 12:05, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The default on mobile is indeed Minerva Neue, yes.

Dynamic Map

Hey I am trying to create a new dynamic map for an article (the old one had a lot of confusing and outdated info) but the markers all have number 1. It's 1.(attraction) even though I had placed like 5. I read in the dynamics map page that the numbers are automatic so am I missing something? Should I try to change the markers on the existing map? JuanKaznes (talk) 22:12, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@JuanKaznes: Yes, dynamic map marker numberings are automatic, but they should all have unique numbers for each section. Which article did you have in mind specifically? //shb (t | c | m) 22:23, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It would indeed help to know which article this occurs in, since these typically are issues local to individual articles. I did find and fix a numbering issue in your last-edited article though. That one happened because (for some reason) {{Marker}} doesn't de-capitalise whatever is defined in the type-parameter, thus creating a separate count for "See" instead of "see".

I kinda lost you in the end there haha the article was Universal City. So I should write see or do in the listing and not See / Do? JuanKaznes (talk) 22:45, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What I said is pretty technical to be fair, and it really isn't that important for your everyday editing use, but I'll try to explain it a bit simpler:
We have two types of templates (pre-made bits of code) that put pins on the dynamic map, and they don't always work together flawlessly. Universal City uses two different types, and one of those ({{Marker}}) requires you to tell it what kind of pin you want to place on the map. This is defined through the type parameter. The normal {{See}} template defines this type for you as "see". The {{Marker}} I fixed in the edit I linked above, however, defined that type as "See". The capital S means that a different calculation gets used to determine what number that listing should get. This because the thing that calculates that, sees "see" and "See" as two separate things. This in turn, meant that there were two See-listings on the dynamic map that were numbered "1".
In any case, it doesn't look like this was the thing that you were running into, but that it instead was what @WhatamIdoing reported below :)

Great thank you for explaining JuanKaznes (talk) 01:14, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JuanKaznes, if memory serves, they all display as "1" in the visual editor, but when you publish your changes, it assigns the correct numbers. WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:41, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh really? I didn't want to ruin the article so I stopped when I was editing. JuanKaznes (talk) 22:48, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I can confirm what WhatamIdoing said. It's really annoying but I guess it is what it is. //shb (t | c | m) 00:57, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great thanks for the help. JuanKaznes (talk) 01:15, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Trizek (WMF), would you please remind the Editing team about this? There should already be a Phab task somewhere, but I don't remember whether it's under VisualEditor, Parsoid, or Maps/Kartographer. WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:34, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
