Pretty much nowhere if your question is to be taken literally – you're going to have to spend some money somewhere along the lines (directly, such as the cost of a tram fare, or indirectly, such as fuel). However, it is possible to travel for an extremely low-cost: many cities do have free attractions (such as museums and art galleries) and hikes are often free depending on where you are. Campgrounds can be free or incredibly low-cost (where I live there's only a one-off booking fee), though once again, that doesn't account for the cost of travelling there. //shb (t | c | m) 11:16, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Places you can walk or cycle to. Possibly also places served by local public transport if you already have a season ticket or pass (maybe bought for regular commuting). AlasdairW (talk) 11:24, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Get a job that involves much travel? Cabin staff for an airline? Roadie for a band? Digital nomad? Sailor? Trucker?

Hitchhiking? Temporary work as crew on a yacht or freighter to get across an ocean? A Working holiday visa at a destination?

The classic free transportation, "Third boxcar, midnight train"? Not recommended since it is illegal anywhere & penalties are severe in some places. Also uncomfortable & rather dangerous. Next line of that song "Destination Bangor, Maine"? I do not know if they still do it, but at one point the Bangor government would give an indigent person a free bus ticket anywhere in the contiguous US provided they agreed never to ask for welfare in Bangor again.
