Wikivoyage talk:Child protection policy

The text of this policy page was copied and adapted from a page on the Meta-Wiki, specifically the version published 11 August 2019, and current as of 3 March 2020.

Hey all, I've made several changes to this page. They've altered the layout and appearance quite significantly, but I've barely touched the actual policy wording; the wording I have changed keeps the same meaning. For these reasons, I plunged forward without seeking consensus.

Summary + explanation of changes:

• Made the page overall more accessible to young readers by using simple language throughout. The advice for young people was not written in a way that an average 9-year old would understand, so this has been rewritten.
• The exception to the above is the policy content, which is explicitly aimed at adult readers. The policy was largely copied from Meta:Child protection policy, and so probably shouldn't be drastically changed.
• Switched the page order so the advice for kids is near the top and not buried beneath the policy documentation.
• The only policy rewording: The Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use list the following activities as inappropriate uses of the websites,... → ...inappropriate uses of its websites,...

About the OS stuff, thanks for this, ThunderingTyphoons!. My addition is mostly based on existing OS practice. As for why letting admins know is a bad idea: a) there is no particular off-wiki venue like IRC or Discord that Wikivoyage has, so any request for help would end up being on-wiki thus leaving more work for stewards to oversight (also personal pet peeve of mine when admins try and intervene and the list is in the dozens); b) admins aren't required to sign the WMF's ANPDP and aren't necessarily vetted by T&S to be handling OS-worthy material. On the 'If any of your personal information comes out' part – I think we should specify that this about info disclosed on Wkivoyage or other Wikimedia Foundation sites. We cannot help in most other situations. I am not sure what advice to give when information has been given to Wikivoyage users off-wiki, such as in a Mediawiki mail.
