Yinan (沂南; Yínán) is a county in the Linyi area of Shandong, China. This guide covers the county seat and surrounding towns and countryside. Visitors can explore the bamboo groves and spring-fed village landscape at Zhuquan Village, visit sites commemorating Zhuge Liang, and walk on Wolong Hill.
Regions
[edit | edit source]This guide covers Yinan County as a whole; the county seat and rural attractions are described together below.
Cities
[edit | edit source]- Jiehu (界湖) — the county seat, with Wolong Hill on its western side.
- Tongjing (铜井) — the northern town containing Zhuquan Village.
- Zhuanbu (砖埠) — the southern town containing the Zhuge Liang Hometown Memorial Hall.
Understand
[edit | edit source]History
[edit | edit source]The area is associated with ancient Yangdu and with Zhuge Liang, the statesman and strategist of the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 CE); the memorial hall in Zhuanbu and the cultural park on Wolong Hill commemorate him. Han-dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE) remains at Beizhai reflect an older layer of local history.
During the war against Japan, Yinan was an important center of the Yimeng Communist base area. In August 1940, a provincial wartime administrative body was established at Qingtuo Temple. This wartime history is another theme of local museums and memorial sites.
Orientation
[edit | edit source]The county seat is centered on Jiehu. Wolong Hill and its Zhuge Liang cultural park are on the western side of the built-up area. Zhuquan Village is farther north, in Tongjing Town; the Zhuge Liang Hometown Memorial Hall is south of the county seat, in Zhuanbu Town. The two Zhuge Liang attractions are separate places: show the Chinese name and address when arranging transport. The three attractions are spread across the county and cannot all be covered as a walk around the town center.

Like the rest of inland Shandong, Yinan has four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and rainy, while winters are cold and dry. Spring can be windy and changeable; autumn is generally milder. Bring rain protection for summer visits and warm clothing for winter walks.
Get in
[edit | edit source]By plane
[edit | edit source]- 1 Linyi Qiyang International Airport (LYI IATA 临沂启阳国际机场), Hedong District, Linyi. An airport in Linyi, south of Yinan. Arrange onward road transport to Yinan before arrival, particularly if your flight arrives late. Confirm the fare and destination with your driver; the county seat and rural attractions are separate destinations.
By bus
[edit | edit source]- 2 Yinan Bus Station (沂南汽车站), Intersection of West Ring Road and Yingbin Avenue, Jiehu (界湖街道西外环与迎宾大道交汇处), ☏ +86 539-3236000. The county's coach station. Contact the station for departures to your destination and the last return service before planning a day trip.
By train
[edit | edit source]- 3 Yinan railway station (沂南站), Xinji Town. The station is outside the county seat. Passenger services may be limited or unavailable on some dates, so check China Railway 12306 before traveling and arrange onward transport in advance.
By car
[edit | edit source]Use the attraction's Chinese name and town in navigation. Zhuquan Village, Wolong Hill and the memorial hall in Zhuanbu are separate destinations; navigating only to “Yinan” will not take you to all three.
Get around
[edit | edit source]
The attractions below are spread across the county. The memorial hall in Zhuanbu is south of the county town, while Zhuquan Village is to the north; allow time to travel between them.
By public transport
[edit | edit source]Yinan Shengtong Bus Company (沂南县盛通公交有限责任公司), based at the bus station, is the local bus operator; its published contact number is ☏ +86 539-3260105. Ask which stop serves your destination and confirm the last return departure. Do not assume a town bus continues to a rural attraction.
For Zhuquan Village, the county government's published route list identifies bus 3 from Anju Residential Community (安居小区) toward Sanshangou (三山沟), via Tongjing (铜井) and Zhuquan (竹泉). Board toward Sanshangou and show the driver “竹泉村景区” to confirm the appropriate stop. Check the current boarding point and return departures with the operator before setting out; route names and termini may change.
By car or taxi
[edit | edit source]For a trip combining the northern and southern attractions, arrange the itinerary and return pickup in advance. Show the driver the Chinese attraction names, particularly for the two different Zhuge Liang sites.
On foot
[edit | edit source]Walking is useful within Jiehu, the county seat, and inside individual attractions. Zhuquan Village in Tongjing and the Zhuge Liang Hometown Memorial Hall in Zhuanbu are separate trips north and south of the county seat, rather than stops on one town-center walking route.
By bicycle
[edit | edit source]For cycling between towns and rural attractions, plan the complete road route rather than following a straight line between map markers. Check the distance, terrain and daylight available before setting out. The map markers identify destinations, not designated cycling routes.
