Your recent edits

Do you mind explaining why you are inserting random, nonsensical numbers in the middle of sentences? See this edit and this edit for example. What does "6.476280" mean? — 216.9.110.12 20:05, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I was just reverting edits by a banned user, and restoring the previous version of the articles, which had these errors.
The editor was banned for making hateful anti-Islamic and anti-Semitic edits to articles, and generally for being a jerk. That sort of behaviour isn't acceptable here, and when we see his edits, we revert them automatically. Ground Zero (talk) 20:43, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
The above IP is an obvious block evasion of ArticCynda. Hard-blocked the IP for a month. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 03:52, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Thanks a lot

I really want to appreciate you for all the advice and corrections you have been dropping for me. I really appreciate them and i look forward to learning more from you. Lordgentual (talk) 16:21, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am glad to hear that. You are doing good work here. Ground Zero (talk) 03:45, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I heartily second that. You've added a lot of good content to several articles, some of which can be upgraded to usable. I'll have a look at which ones meet the criteria and upgrade them soon. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 03:48, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Time format for NS

When you added a listing in Joggins, I noticed you added the 24-hour clock. Was this an accident as Talk:Canada says to use 12 except for Quebec, or is the 24-hour clock more common in Nova Scotia? --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 21:49, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

No. That was just my stupid brain trying to make me look bad. Or I'm spending too much time on Duolingo trying to upgrade my French. Ground Zero (talk) 22:11, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

About Lithuania

You said it was my political opinion, but this is a fact. Lithuania became the first country in the world to formally recognise Taiwan as an independent country separate from China last year. I know the United States doesn't formally do so, but it is backing Lithuania in their decision. Spreading my political opinion would be telling people whether or not to support Taiwan independence, which I have never done on Wikivoyage, either in talk pages or articles (point me to examples if that's what you are accusing me of). But whether you or I like it or not, Lithuania recognising Taiwan independence is undisputed fact. The dog2 (talk) 19:10, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

What you added to the article was "[Today they are European Union and NATO members,] and among the most loyal U.S. allies in Europe." Which countries are the most or least loyal U.S. allies in Europe is your opinion. That is what I removed. And it is unnecessary in a travel article about the Soviet Union since it is about the situation 30 years after the demise of the Soviet Union. Ground Zero (talk) 19:32, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve

When you have the time, take a look at Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve. It's one of the new articles our [not really] new contributor from Quebec. The fact that it has so many redlinks including to templates that don't exist both here and on the French Wikivoyage (per d:Q7644468) makes me suspect of some copyvio. It's definitely not a usable article (albeit what the tag says) and has highway markers in text. How do I bring this issue up with them? I feel like I've already gone too much into explaining policies and fixing capitalization, external links, along with many other policies. This seems to be a one off article, but that article can't stand the way it is. Thanks, --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 05:37, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcoming Basa Pulu Kokos to Wikivoyage

I guess you're not aware that that's a globally locked account? Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:03, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ah, no, I hadn't seen that. Thanks for letting me know. Ground Zero (talk) 21:12, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sure thing. It's a pity; they hadn't done anything bad here, but apparently, they vandalized other Wiki sites. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:14, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah they probably wouldn't have been globally locked if it were not for Sotiale's CU check on m:Steward_requests/Checkuser/2022-02#[email protected] SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:24, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
