Travel Alert: Swiss woman gang-raped
[edit]The couple from Switzerland were also robbed of ₹10,000 and a laptop computer. Besides, is camping overnight at a village (in this case, in Datia district) an unsafe idea? --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 03:13, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- P.S. Here's the BBC News article. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 03:14, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
From "Understand"
[edit]There are some nice highlights in this section, but they might be better placed in "See," and the prose needs to be untangled:
Madhya Pradesh has beautiful cities and historical places are here. One temple is in Indore famous which made of glass. Indore is a commercial center of the agriculture region. The main industries of cotton and Jewelry are in Bhopal. India’s largest Mosque is there. Modern Bhopal was founded in 1970. A king Mohammad in earliest eighteen century ruled there, also Bhopal was the capital of the former princely state of Bhopal. Jain cliff carving is in Gwalior Mansingh was ones the king and a Sikh temple is here.
Ujjain is a famous place in the world as it is the one of sacred city for the Hindus. In the eight century AD it was the center of Sanskrit learning and many famous temples are here. Every twenty year a big fair, Kumb, is organized. The city Raipur was founded in fourteen century by Rai Brahma Deo of the Ratnapura dynsty and many major foods processing industries are here. Sanchi is world famous place. It is known for Sputa, Monasteries, Temples and pillars. The Sachi sputa one was originally built by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka.
Cities
[edit]Khajuraho was the last of 10 cities added, so I move its listing here:
Khajuraho is a very important attraction, but it's mentioned in "See". Should it be one of the 9 listed cities, and if so, which one should it replace? Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:44, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek: Replace Burhanpur with Khajuraho, as Burhanpur does not describe the "rich history" concisely. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 12:50, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Other destinations
[edit]This was the 10th "Other destination":
There should be no more than 9 per Wikivoyage:Avoid long lists, and in any case, a municipal zoo is not a separate destination but a place to go while in Bhopal, and it should be listed in the Bhopal guide; it should not have its own article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:55, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
New regions
[edit]The current regions of Madhya Pradesh are as follows:
- Bhopal-Narmadapuram Division
- Eastern Madhya Pradesh
- Jabalpur-Sagar Division
- Northern Madhya Pradesh
- Western Madhya Pradesh
However, it is a mix of administrative divisions and cardinal directions. So, I have decided to regorganize/rename the regions as follows:
- Central Madhya Pradesh — covering the Bhopal part of Bhopal-Narmadapuram Division.
- Eastern Madhya Pradesh (extended) — covering Eastern Madhya Pradesh and the Sagar part of Jabalpur-Sagar Division.
- Malwa (not the one in Punjab) — covering Western Madhya Pradesh.
- Narmada Valley — covering the Narmadapuram part of Bhopal-Narmadapuram Division, and the Jabalpur part of Jabalpur-Sagar Division.
- Northern Madhya Pradesh — unchanged.

- Looks like Northern Madhya Pradesh has less than 5 blue-linked listings, thus potentially violating WV:7+2. However, since 7+2 allows some leeways for bottom-level regions, maybe we don't have to combine Northern and Central Madhya Pradesh into a single region, as the two regions have separate histories and cultures. - I appreciate the work you've put into this so far, but i will point that the districting project that you started at Kochi has never been completed. Please see Talk:Kochi#Districtification. I have done some of the work, but I don't know the city. It would be a good idea to finish that half-completed project before starting this one. Ground Zero (talk) 12:58, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Ground Zero: I have almost completed that project except the Drink section. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 14:35, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
