Review request: Mianyang guide update

[edit source]

Hello! As part of a university course (ISM3004, Hanyang University), I have substantially expanded and refined the travel guide for Mianyang. I updated and enhanced the history, climate, Get in, and Get around sections, and added numerous detailed listings (with coordinates and images where applicable) across the See, Do, Eat, Buy, Drink, Sleep, Connect, and Go next sections.

I would be very grateful for feedback on: the tone of the writing, the structure of the sections, whether any relevant details are missing or should be adjusted, and anything that does not follow Wikivoyage guidelines. Any other suggestions are welcome as well!

Thank you in advance! Ryuthefang (talk) 06:00, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

This article looks great! I don't see any real problems, though I have a few easy suggestions to make it better:
  • Add a sentence or two to the introduction paragraph, with a few reasons why a traveller would want to visit. (If you're stuck, move the most interesting sentence in the Understand section into the first paragraph, and go from there.)
  • The Do section has more than WV:7+2 listings, so organize them into subsections. You can use whatever you like, but I usually make an "Events" or "Festivals" subsections for anything that only happens one time a year.
  • In Eat, create a subsection for famous dishes and another subsection for restaurants and eateries.
  • In Go Next, linkify the city names so visitors can read our articles on them.

Please note that Beichuan has a separate article on Wikivoyage. This should be mentioned somewhere in the Understand section and all the Beichuan listings must be moved to the Beichuan article. STW932 (talk) 00:14, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@STW932
Thank you for the guidance! I have updated the article according to the geographic hierarchy rules:
Replaced the Beichuan-specific listings in the See and Do sections with attractions within Mianyang proper (such as Shengshui Temple and the Yuewang Tower Teahouse Experience).
Thanks again for helping improve the guide! Ryuthefang (talk) 02:08, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please follow wv:Section headers#Capitalization, and in the "Eat" section, it makes sense to start with descriptions of local specialties and then follow up with restaurant listings. It also doesn't make sense to use listings templates for dishes, only for eateries. Please edit accordingly. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:25, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Gerode Thank you so much for the encouraging feedback and great suggestions! I have updated the article accordingly:
1. Added compelling reasons to visit Mianyang in the introduction paragraph.
2. Organized the Do section into distinct subsections (Theme parks & Entertainment, Outdoor & Wellness, Cultural experiences, and Festivals & Events).
3. Split the Eat section into "Famous dishes" and "Restaurants".
4. Added internal wikilinks to all city names in the Go Next section.
Thanks again for your help in making the guide better! Ryuthefang (talk) 00:27, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
