Hello, Gerode.

A recent change now means that all IP addresses are no longer visible to most ordinary users. However, as per WMF policy, any user who has made at least 300 edits with an account older than 6 months may request the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) permission to view IP addresses of all temporary accounts for up to 90 days. You are receiving this mass message because your account is autopatrolled, or has patroller and/or template editor permissions, and have over 300 edits, and thus are likely eligible to request this permission.

Guidelines surrounding the use of the tool can be found at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer; if granted, you must also accept the WMF policy in your preferences.

TAIV permissions can be requested at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer/Requests, or on any admin's talk page.

De nada! I've visited the city several times over the past few years, it's one of my favorites. I'm happy when I can work on articles that are already complete and maintained, so I can spend more energy adding detail, flourish and clarity instead of cobbling together basic information. Also, this is a... concerning moment for Mexican travel, so I get to feel like I'm helping a little. Hello. You recently edited the new Skive page.

I learned that postnumbers are not included in addresses here on Wikivoyage, but you removed other address-related info. And I am confused.

I originally wrote an address like this: "Nørregade 10, 7800 Skive". The postal number was removed, as per WV guidelines, and the address was left like this: "Nørregade 10, Skive". This address is still useful. You went ahead and also removed the Skive-string, so now the address is this: "Nørregade 10". And that is confusing. There are many streets in Denmark named Nørregade. In almost any town.

Does WV require the removal of "Skive" in the addresses? And if so, what do we do to avoid the confusion?

You would probably think that all roads in a certain town would include the town's name by default, but that is not the case.

Hello! The goal of the address field is to help travellers navigate to a place within a city, not to send mail (as you know). If the listings are already in the Skive article, then a traveller can assume any addresses there are in Skive too, and not some other town in Denmark. In a small way, this keeps listings easier to read, as they won't repeat "Skive" 100 more times throughout the article.

I don't have any local knowledge on Skive or Denmark. If there are multiple "Nørregade 10" places in the area covered by the Skive article, then that is a great reason to make an exception. And if Danes use addresses and navigation tools differently from most other Europeans, you can try arguing for the exception allowed for United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany on Wikivoyage talk:Listings, but I don't see this coming up on the major Denmark articles. Yes, normal WV policy is not to name the town in addresses. For example in an article about Skive, it generally is not necessary to tell the reader that an address is in Skive. You might put in a town name if it is not Skive, e.g. for something in a suburb or a nearby village.

An exception is when we have a rural region article that includes several villages, none of which rates its own article. In that case, most listings will include a village name. Pashley (talk) 16:53, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

In April, Wikivoyage introduced the Travel Tracker (also known as "My Travel Map") in the user menu at top right. It has recently come to our attention that the initial version of the tool did not make clear that maps created through it are public and are associated with your account. Users who used the tool and published a map may have their map deleted by emailing a request for oversight. We apologize for this matter.
