Wikivoyage:Arrivals lounge

Welcome to the Arrivals Lounge

The Arrivals Lounge is a place where learners on Wikivoyage can ask questions about the website; in particular, questions about formatting, templates, or any problems or concerns. Experienced users can answer their questions and help them learn more about how to use the website.

For discussions about travel (including questions), please go to the travel forum instead.

To start a new topic, click the button below entitled "Click here to ask a new question", so that the new topic gets added at the bottom of the page, and sign your post by appending four tildes (~~~~). To see the archives, please visit the archive for the month you are looking for. For example, Wikivoyage:Arrivals lounge/Archives/2018/September gets you the archives for September 2018. Archiving is done automatically after one month per discussion. There is also a page with links to archives; see Wikivoyage:Arrivals lounge/Archives.

Bad page creations

[edit source]

@Ikan Kekek, I saw that you had to delete a bunch of straight-up vandalism pages created by a temporary account. Is that a common problem, or a one-off thing? WhatamIdoing (talk) 00:51, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

It's not uncommon. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:04, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

How do people add userboxes to their profiles?

[edit source]

How do you guys add userboxes to your profile? I want to add some to my page, but I can't figure it out. Dirkdays (talk) 17:37, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if this isn't a good question Dirkdays (talk) 17:37, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's a fine question. If you want to add userboxes about language proficiency, that is a built-in feature of the software. Just add {{#babel:code-number|code-number}}. E.g. on my page, I have {{#babel:en|es-2|de-1|pt-1}}. Note how if you are a native speaker, you can leave off the number. If you want userboxes that are unrelated, you can our fairly modest collection here. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 18:33, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes. A Babel box is appreciated. Otherwise we don't do userboxes like Wikipedia. See Wikivoyage:User page help and the user pages of some active contributors. –LPfi (talk) 20:12, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
ohhhhh :-) TYSM! Dirkdays (talk) 15:24, 20 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm struggling with creating a babel that's xx-0 for ka (Georgian). It keeps saying that I know a native amount of Georgian, but I don't Dirkdays (talk) 15:35, 20 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

thank you <:-) Dirkdays (talk) 15:26, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Dirkdays, do you have any questions on how to edit articles? You can pick on a page that you previously visited (maybe even from few years ago), especially if we don't have a lot of information about it (such as Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe, most of Asia and South America). Even simple things like confirming that the price of attractions, restaurants and hotel nights will help. OhanaUnitedTalk page 20:25, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
