Torre del Pozzo is a coastal village in Oristano province.
Understand
[edit | edit source]The name derives from the presence of the characteristic Hispanic coastal tower, found in several Sardinian seaside towns, and from a natural well carved by erosion that runs from the promontory to the sea. The corridor cut into the rock reaches the open sea and is accessible to divers.
The village is characterized by a unique and uneven architecture, consisting of detached houses of moderate size. The village's first wooden building, "La Capanna" (a restaurant), is still in operation today and has retained its characteristic wooden exterior.
From here, Is Arenas beach begins. The first stretch is rocky, almost reaching a kiosk that opens in the summer. From here, it's all sand until the end of the beach.
