Karnataka visas?

[edit source]

In Special:Diff/5145906/5185972 (which I reverted) you told that

"[Belagavi] require Karnataka visas, permits and so on"

Can you explain what visas you referred to? It is also odd to need a disclaimerbox for relations inside a country. Can you explain?

LPfi (talk) 10:30, 29 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

My bad. Just not visa. Just permits Globetrotter30 (talk) 10:52, 29 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
So what permits are needed? –LPfi (talk) 16:22, 29 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just restricted areas Globetrotter30 (talk) 10:52, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think that can be left for articles on those restricted areas (Karnataka if the permits are handled there, but I saw no such section), and there is no need to tell why the permits are to be had from the state the area belongs to. The {{disclaimerbox}} is for cases where de jure and de facto differ according to at least some official sources. –LPfi (talk) 14:26, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

On the Belgaum article, I have wondered about the name of the article (which name exactly???), should be used. Globetrotter30 (talk) 09:58, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't know India or any Indian languages (except for English), so cannot really have an opinion. If you don't get satisfying answers at Talk:Belgaum, you could post a link to the thread from a new section in the PubLPfi (talk) 11:16, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Subheadings

[edit source]

Thanks so much for all your helpful edits! This is just a note that section and subsection headers have initial capitals for the first word only, unless other words are always capitalized in English, and don't get a colon or any other type of punctuation. Please make the changes when you have a chance, and thanks again! Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:27, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Happy New Year 2026

Brevity is the soul of wit

[edit source]

@Globetrotter30, I appreciate your enthusiasm for India, but we don't want to include lots of details so that the article is as long as possible. If it's really essential for travellers to know something, try to think of a way to express it as briefly as possible, avoiding unnecessary expressions like "among others" and trivia like just how many points on the Richter scale the strongest recorded earthquake in India was.

Thanks and all the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:04, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Also please take it easy about the UNESCO World Heritage Site tag. Just because a forest near Trichy is listed, it doesn't mean that Trichy is on the list. Ibaman (talk) 16:24, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it makes sense to UNESCO-tag a religion, either. I'm going to revert that, as the religion itself is not a UNESCO World Heritage site, only aspects of it. Ditto for Christianity and other religions. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:32, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Account compromise

[edit source]

I'm interested to know what kind of account compromise you're facing, as you mentioned at Special:Diff/5267885? //shb (t | c | m) 12:00, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Welcome, World Cup fans sections

[edit source]

Did you decide to add those on your own? I'm not sure why we want to add a brief summary just for World Cup fans. I could see having summaries with links from a dedicated World Cup 2026 page, but I don't like them being in destination articles. Please discuss. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:22, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

someone has already put them on the mexico city articles Globetrotter30 (talk) 15:24, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Mrkstvns, it seems. Has there been some discussion? I suppose World Cup fans know that the Fifa World Cup is going to take place – can we expect them to find 2026 FIFA World Cup? For most readers a note in Events should do, plus perhaps a noticebox on accommodation scarcity and traffic jams. –LPfi (talk) 16:00, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
They posted to Talk:2026 FIFA World Cup in mid-February, apparently no-one saw the post, and they then decided to start adding these sections. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:21, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ebola

[edit source]

Hello Globetrotter30 :-) I don't think we've met before; it's good to see another Brit on here doing a great job.

Regarding these two edits, the information is better presented as a Template:Cautionbox ({{cautionbox|your text|lastedit=2026-06-09}}), which are used for health concerns that are less severe than those that warrant a Template:Warningbox. Both boxes have a nifty field that states when the box was last updated. The disclaimer template is usually used for political disputes, usually when more than one country claims a particular region. I made the change here.

Also, can I ask you to provide a source in the box that links to the UKHSA's advice? I just tried to find it myself and couldn't (admittedly didn't try very hard; it's late where I am, or rather early...). An official link makes it more credible to readers, and allows them to check the advice for themselves. See for example the Warningbox on Ukraine, where nine countries' travel advisories are linked to.

Thanks and all the best, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 08:02, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
