Welcome, and omit default address info as directed
[edit source]Hello, JiNnn04! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.
Thanks for adding content to this site! As your professor told you, and per wv:listings#listing parameters, you need to omit default address info from the "address" tabs of all listings. That means no mention of the city if it's the article's name, no province and no country. Make sure to take care of this, and thanks again.
Best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:07, 27 October 2026 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit source]You ignored your professor's instructions and my reminder above, so you are now blocked for an initial period of 3 days. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:22, 30 October 2026 (UTC)
- You're still doing this, so you're now blocked for 2 weeks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:48, 2 November 2026 (UTC)
- I believe you're also inserting raw AI text in at least one article, so if you want to ask for this block to be cut short, address that as well as Wikivoyage listings conventions. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:51, 2 November 2026 (UTC)
- Dear Ikan Kekek,
- First of all, I would like to sincerely apologize for my mistakes.
- This is my first time contributing to Wikivoyage. Unfortunately, I did not notice your messages in time, so I failed to recognize and correct my mistakes before repeating them. I understand that my lack of experience does not excuse my failure to follow your guidance, and I am truly sorry.
- I am an international student studying in South Korea, and I started using Wikivoyage as part of a university course. Before this semester, I had almost no experience editing Wikivoyage and was unfamiliar with many of its rules.
- After carefully reading your messages, I realized that I had misunderstood the listing address requirements. I repeatedly included unnecessary information, such as the city, province, and country, even though these details should have been omitted. I sincerely apologize for not recognizing and correcting this problem sooner.
- I also want to be honest about my use of AI. Since English is not my first language, I used AI to help organize and translate some of my descriptions. However, I relied on it too much and did not carefully check whether everything followed Wikivoyage's guidelines. I now understand that I am responsible for everything I publish, regardless of whether AI was involved.
- I have spent a great deal of time working on the Bozhou travel guide, and I genuinely hope to contribute useful information about this city. I never intended to disregard the community's rules or create additional work for other editors.
- I understand why my account was blocked, and I respect your decision. However, if possible, I would be very grateful if you could consider lifting my block and giving me another opportunity to contribute.
- If I am allowed to edit again, I will carefully study Wikivoyage's listing guidelines, correct the problematic addresses, verify the information I add, and make sure that all descriptions are properly reviewed and rewritten in my own words.
- Thank you very much for taking the time to read my message and review my contributions. I sincerely apologize again for my mistakes and for any inconvenience I have caused.
- Best regards,
- JiNnn04 JiNnn04 (talk) 00:31, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
- I will unblock your account, and in addition to the things you promise to correct, make sure not to include AI disclaimers like "check the website because x and y may have changed". Post what you can ascertain from good, non-AI sources, and leave out information you cannot determine. Travelers aren't stupid and realize that they can look at URLs we give them.
- Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:52, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your understanding and for giving me another chance. I now understand your point about AI-style disclaimers.I will carefully review my previous contributions and correct the mistakes I made, especially in the listing addresses and descriptions. I will do my best to finish correcting all these issues by the end of this week.
- Thank you again for your guidance and for taking the time to help me. I will also pay much closer attention to your messages in the future.I am truly sorry for the extra work and trouble I have caused you, and I sincerely appreciate your patience. JiNnn04 (talk) 01:03, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
- It's OK. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:25, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
