Hello, Muzzleflash! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--ϒpsilon (talk) 11:56, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit source]Thank you for adding so much content to articles about Hebei and Ordos City!
All the best,

Autopatroller
[edit source]You have well over 100 edits on Wikivoyage, so technically you could become an autopatroller. As long as you stick to this account here, there is no problem with your Wikivoyage account, but it seems that you are blocked indefinitely on WP for sockpuppetry, so I do not plan to give you Wikivoyage autopatroller status yet.
But no worries — your edits have been fine on WV as far as I can tell, and if you continue to make good faith edits I will gladly promote you to autopatroller status. For information about this status, see WV:Autopatrollers. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:18, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- I have no idea how my editing violated the published policy of "abusively" using multiple accounts on WP. In any case I don't have much interest in figuring it out or disputing it. Muzzleflash (talk) 07:04, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- Well, generally, wikis don't like people using multiple accounts, and they'll block people indefinitely for doing so. The reason: there are some people who get blocked for vandalism, causing problems, or whatever, and then they'll create a new account to get around the block. But again, as long as you don't create multiple accounts here, I don't think there should be any concerns. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:59, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
I've upgraded you to autopatroller status since you've now made nearly 300 good edits here. Thanks for contributing! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:18, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
Unilateral redistricting of Beijing
[edit source]Hi. Thanks for taking action, but it's irregular to act first on districting and never ask questions. Please participate at Talk:Beijing#Maps, districting. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:39, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
We sent you an e-mail

Temporary account IP viewer
[edit source]Hello, Muzzleflash.
A recent change now means that all IP addresses are no longer visible to most ordinary users. However, as per WMF policy, any user who has made at least 300 edits with an account older than 6 months may request the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) permission to view IP addresses of all temporary accounts for up to 90 days. You are receiving this mass message because your account is autopatrolled, or has patroller and/or template editor permissions, and have over 300 edits, and thus are likely eligible to request this permission.
Guidelines surrounding the use of the tool can be found at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer; if granted, you must also accept the WMF policy in your preferences.
TAIV permissions can be requested at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer/Requests, or on any admin's talk page.

What to put in "directions"
[edit source]Thanks for your edits! About the "directions" tab, though, don't put in location touting. Say what the cross street is, and note if some landmark like the train station is literally across the street, next door, or maybe down the block or around the corner. Otherwise, leave that tab blank.
All the best,

If you want to change how Beijing is districted on this site, make a proposal
[edit source]No-one is allowed to do that unilaterally. There needs to be a discussion that results in a consensus. I'll revert your unilateral changes now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:53, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- This seems like a minor issue, given that Shunyi and Changping are two of Beijing’s 16 districts. I didn’t think I was acting unilaterally but if it needs to be discussed then OK. I would have thought that acting unilaterally meant coming up with novel ideas for how to divide Beijing. I do think that focusing too much on minor administrative issues like this gets in the way of developing content. Muzzleflash (talk) 07:00, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- See Wikivoyage:Plunge forward#...But don't be reckless!!. Your proposal might or might not be controversial, but you must make one, and the fact that these are officially 2 districts is not relevant; wv:the traveller comes first is. State about how many listings in total each of the new articles would have when you make your argument for them, and link the thread in wv:requests for comment. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:17, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- I think you're acting against the spirit of “plunge forward.” There a number of articles based on official districts of Beijing so this isn't controversial based on existing practice in place for years. Muzzleflash (talk) 07:23, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- If you disagree with Wikivoyage policies, try making an argument on the relevant talk page. Wikis work on consensus. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:56, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- My reply is not directed at policy but your behavior. I think your personal behavior is creating a negative environment. Muzzleflash (talk) 08:27, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- I object to unilateral district changes whenever anyone does them. I pointed to the relevant policy page. Your work is appreciated, but wanting special exceptions from procedures and policies everyone must follow won't work. I suggest you move on. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:36, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
