Hello, WikiGeekster3000! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals. Pashley (talk) 15:32, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Also see wv:Links to Wikipedia, and indeed welcome and thanks for your work so far!
Best,

When you include "check official site for opening times and tickets", are you copying from AI? Sorry to ask, but similar sentences come from sources like Chat GPT, and copying from AI is not allowed on this site. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:00, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hei @Ikan Kekek. In my recent edits I did semi-use of AI. I didn’t realize the policy was this strict. Could you point me to the Wikivoyage policy page on using AI, so I can read what it currently says? As English is not my first language, I find AI helpful. I also think that for the very small community of editors on Wikivoyage AI could be especially useful, if used wisely for updating older content, and actually locating most of the outdated information needed desperately to be fixed which might otherwise be missed. This could save the community a lot of time and raise the quality of the content significantly over time. BUT I will respect the consensus on this matter - if using AI is not allowed, or there are restrictions on how it can be used - I will make sure to follow those rules from now on. If there are specific edits you’d like me to fix or remove, just let me know. WikiGeekster3000 (talk) 12:04, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
See Wikivoyage:Tips for new contributors#Contributing information. Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:30, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Ikan Kekek - Thank you. I understand now that the policy is against posting raw AI output, and that any AI help needs thorough fact-checking and editing to fit the writing style of Wikivoyage. I’ll make sure of that, and I’ll go back through my recent edits and make sure to rewrite what you pointed out and look for anything else that might need to be rewritten. One question the policy page doesn’t seem to answer clearly... is it acceptable to use AI to help improve the English text I wrote myself and/or to help locate outdated information in articles, as long as I check all the facts and rewrite the result in the style of Wikivoyage before posting it? To my knowledge, we haven't worked out any policy on AI beyond what I sent you, so I'd suggest asking those questions at Wikivoyage talk:Tips for new contributors and see what people say. My feeling is that I'd rather you use whatever level of English you can and let others edit the text for polish, and I'd rather you use tools other than AI to determine whether information is no longer accurate, but that's just one person's views.
