Saguday is a municipality in Quirino.
Understand
[edit | edit source]Saguday was founded in 1959 and was named after an Ilocano term for a virtuous person. Its population mostly consists of Ilocano settlers. Unlike other towns of Quirino, Saguday is on a fertile plain, which explains its title as the "Rice Granary of Quirino".
Get in
[edit | edit source]The southernmost barangays of Saguday are along Cordon-Diffun-Aurora Road, the main thoroughfare in Quirino, while downtown Saguday is directly connected to Santiago City in Isabela through a road that merges with Cordon-Diffun-Aurora Road in neighboring Cabarroguis. There are passenger vans connecting the town with Santiago, while the bus from Santiago City to Dinapigue via Aurora also passes through town.

[edit | edit source]A common souvenir in Saguday is fossilized flowers. Contrary to what most people would think, these have nothing to do with dinosaurs, but are instead alibangbang leaves (Piliostigma malabaricum) and flower petals that have been dried, bleached and dyed in various colors. These are mostly sold in stalls along the national highway in Barangay Gamis.
