Welcome

[edit source]

Hello, Daggerstab! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

Thanks for adding content to articles about Bulgaria!

I don't understand what you mean here, though. If you want to archive discussions, you would simply select and then cut them in edit mode, then click the archive link, go into edit mode there and paste the threads at the bottom of the page. Then you could delete the selected content from the non-archived talk page accordingly. But it looks like you already archived everything except for the red link to the CIA World Factbook page. I decided to leave one thread visible. Anyway, done.

All the best,

Thank you! I couldn't delete/cut the threads because when I tried to do that, it triggered the automatic protection against blanking, as my account is too new on this project (no autoconfirmed flag or something). Also, I usually use the source editor. Old Wikipedia habits are hard to shake. :) Daggerstab (talk) 17:11, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I see. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:55, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your edit seemed to get caught in the abuse filter. I'll try and investigate this as your edit was not the only false-positive caught by this filter. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:09, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Temporary account IP viewer

[edit source]

Hello, Daggerstab.

A recent change now means that all IP addresses are no longer visible to most ordinary users. However, as per WMF policy, any user who has made at least 300 edits with an account older than 6 months may request the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) permission to view IP addresses of all temporary accounts for up to 90 days. You are receiving this mass message because your account is autopatrolled, or has patroller and/or template editor permissions, and have over 300 edits, and thus are likely eligible to request this permission.

Guidelines surrounding the use of the tool can be found at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer; if granted, you must also accept the WMF policy in your preferences.

TAIV permissions can be requested at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer/Requests, or on any admin's talk page.

Razgrad

[edit source]

I'm not sure what you have against a pastoral countryside type image that I wanted to use for Razgrad, but I don't think your removal of my pagebanner image was appropriate (it does meet the standards for resolution and is well lit and balanced). It seems that you just don't like the aesthetics, but that's no reason to remove an image without discussion. In any case, I took another look at it and replaced it with a different one. If you still don't like the aesthetics, the acceptable approach is to find a better image that you like (minimum 1600dpi resolution and 7ː1 aspect ratio) and start a discussion on the destination page with both images (and possibly other candidates) to seek comments from other members if the community. If there is a concensus that your image is better, THEN replace it. Mrkstvns (talk) 19:06, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

The first image you put had very obvious issues with noise and lack of focus, whatever image size requirements it fulfilled, and it lacked any features that would make it a good-looking or interesting illustration of the target city. Are you using some kind of AI-based automation to mass-produce all those page banners? Because I find it hard to believe that a human could look at this and think it would entice travellers. Daggerstab (talk) 19:19, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Rest assured, I never use AI for anything and have never generated an AI image. All of the images I use for pagebanners come from commons.wikimedia.org so they often vary considerably in technical quality as well as composition. (Relatively few of the images were captured by professional photographers). For page banners, not every image is meant to "entice travelers". Certainly some are, but others may reflect a specific detail (maybe a cultural tradition, like a type of food). I am often puzzled as to why so many people create articles here without specifying a custom pagebanner when it is trivially easy to do using photos from commons together with croptool to size it correctly. I suppose many of the images could be improved with high-end software like Photoshop, but that's an expensive tool and I'm a cheapskate, so prefer open source methods.
