Rash of touts in the 2026 range
[edit source]There is currently a rash of touting of hotels and restaurants by several IP accounts with visible identities starting with 2026. Can we block that range? If we can, let's please do it, as it's clearly going to be in vain to post touting warnings to each one of these, only for other socks to continue the touting. - I assume that you can see the IP addresses (I haven't asked for that permission myself), and I assume that they belong to quite a big block, which shouldn't be blocked for any long time. I don't think they need more tout warnings if they clearly are the same person – one should suffice. –LPfi (talk) 19:19, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, I could see the IP addresses but haven't been bothering to do so, just like you. That said, the rash of touting surprisingly ceased or paused after I had reverted it from I think 4 IP accounts. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:10, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
Local filter 35
[edit source]I think this filter is unnecessary, given that there is (private) global filter 35 (both the local and global filters prevent the same pattern). Article/Wikivoyage blanking by unregistered/new user
[edit source]I'm trying to remove the group= from markers on the Appalachian Trail article, and instead add coordinates to the mapframes so they show up. I'm not blanking the page, but I am removing a lot of "text". Is this a universal rule? Blamegroovy (talk) 21:32, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I would urge caution in removing the "group=" parameter from the markers in Appalachian Trail. The marker numbering doesn't work when there are more than 99 of the same marker, so the groups may have been added to address this. I suggest that you outline the changes that you want to make on Talk:Appalachian Trail, perhaps with a small example, so that editors familiar with that article can comment. Then after a few days, make the changes in small steps, so that you don't trigger the filter which detects a large amount of text being removed. AlasdairW (talk) 22:09, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- It's close, but there don't seem to be 99 of the same marker. They're linked to the map frame with group=, but that seems to have broken at some point. I can apply the changes stepwise? It's always possible to revert them afterwards! Blamegroovy (talk) 22:23, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

- 66 is flag-only (mainly so it can get picked up by SWViewer), seems to be 35 that's catching your edits – the main issue here seems to be that your account isn't autoconfirmed.
