This is where you can list suggestions for page banners, for articles which don't currently have a unique page banner. Please provide a link to the image file either on Wikimedia Commons or Flickr next to the link of the article name for which the banner is suggested. You can also suggest the position of the crop, bearing in mind that the crop must have a width to height ratio of 7:1, and that the resulting cropped image must be at least 1800 pixels wide (and ideally at least 2100 pixels).
This page should only be used to suggest a new banner in one of the following situations:
- The article currently has one of the default monochrome page banners.
- The existing banner doesn't meet the technical requiements for banner dimensions - it is less than 1800 pixels wide, or does not have a 7:1 aspect ratio.
- The existing banner (or the photo it was cropped from) is nominated for deletion on Commons.
- There is agreement to replace the banner (or no response after 7 days) in a discussion on the article's talk page. Please put a note about this discussion on Wikivoyage:Requests for comment.
If you make a banner from one of these suggestions, please leave a link to it after the suggestion, add the
Done template and sign. You can write "taken" after the suggestion while you are busy to prevent others from duplicating your work.
Having many more people involved in the process of finding suitable free CC source photos for our page banners (especially people who don't have the skills or facilities to create page banners themselves), that exist on either Flickr or Wikimedia Commons, greatly helps speed up the process of creating all the missing banners.
It is recommended to search for available photos on Wikimedia Commons, the image repository that Wikivoyage uses. You can also look for free CC photos on Flickr or using search.creativecommons.org (make sure that both check marks at the top are marked). For example, in many instances you might increase chances of finding good relevant photos by using the following search queries syntax on both Flickr and Wikimedia Commons - "{Destination name} panorama", or "{Destination name} panoramic", or "{Destination name} skyline", or "{Destination name} downtown".
There is an archive at Wikivoyage:Banner suggestions/Archive.
Suggestions
[edit source]- I suggest the pumpkins in File:Harvest festival with pumpkins, Quebec, Canada.jpg for Thanksgiving. WhatamIdoing (talk) 16:59, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Virginia -- the current banner is of a cemetery. Surely we can do better. Please see Talk:Virginia. Ground Zero (talk) 03:45, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- See Talk:Akishima. I think this page might be dead, given the last activity is from almost 2 years ago, but I hope someone sees this AskMeAboutGalway! :) (talk) 19:08, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- For my Yinan County sandbox draft, I suggest commons:File:Panorama of Yinan from Wolongshan Park.jpg. It shows the county seat from Wolongshan Park and is by LZF (User:Lululuabclzf), licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The source is 11,248 × 3,072 pixels. A 7:1 crop retaining the skyline and some hillside foreground could make a suitable banner; for example, 11,200 × 1,600 pixels before resizing. The draft currently uses the default banner. This is a source-image suggestion, not a finished banner. Xian7710 (talk) 15:41, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- That is a nice picture. You should resize it and add it to your draft. I do not think that anyone will object. Ground Zero (talk) 16:46, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, it's quite pretty, even painterly. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:41, 16 September 2026 (UTC)

- Cheongpyeong – I suggest commons:File:Chungpyeong lake on August 4th, 2018.jpg as a possible source image for a banner. It shows Cheongpyeong Lake and the surrounding mountains, which represent the natural scenery of the destination. The original image is 4,032 × 3,024 pixels, so it is large enough to be cropped to the required 7:1 ratio while remaining over 1,800 pixels wide. Rlaehdrjs04 (talk) 05:47, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- For Bornuur, I suggest commons:File:Bor Lake.jpg. It shows Bor Lake in Bornuur, Töv Province, Mongolia, and was taken by Chongkian. The image is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 and measures 3962 × 2971 pixels. A 3962 × 566 pixel crop would give an exact 7:1 ratio. I suggest retaining the hills, shoreline and lake, while removing most of the sky and foreground. The article currently uses the default banner. HY Tengis (talk) 05:47, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- Deokso – I suggest commons:File:Korail Deokso Station Exit1.jpg as a possible source image for a banner. The Deokso article currently uses a default banner, and this image shows Deokso Station, one of the main transportation landmarks of the town. The original image is 2,288 × 1,712 pixels, so it is wide enough to meet the minimum banner width after being cropped to the required 7:1 ratio. Rlaehdrjs04 (talk) 05:49, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- For Chuncheon, I suggest this finished banner. The article currently uses a default banner. The image shows Jungdo, the city, surrounding water, and mountains. It is 6,090 × 870 pixels (7:1), meeting the banner size requirements. Ravi jiwoo (talk) 05:51, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yiwu — I suggest this image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%E6%A2%85%E6%B9%96%E4%BD%93%E8%82%B2%E4%B8%AD%E5%BF%83_(cropped).jpg — This is a 7:1 cropped banner of Meihu Sports Center in Yiwu, showing the city's landmark and river view.
- For Tongjing (Yinan County, Shandong), I suggest commons:File:临沂红石寨旅游度假区02.jpg as a source for a new banner. The article currently has the default monochrome banner. The photograph shows the wooded hills and recreational landscape at Hongshizhai, one of the attractions covered in the guide. It was taken by Sprt98 on 19 April 2024 and is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The original is 4,000 × 2,992 pixels. I suggest a narrow horizontal strip across the hills and upper greenery, removing most of the sky and lower foreground; a 3,990 × 570 pixel crop would have an exact 7:1 ratio and exceed the recommended 2,100-pixel width. This is a source-image suggestion; a cropped banner has not yet been uploaded. Lewis3044 (talk) 05:53, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
Done Uploaded the finished 3990 × 570 pixel banner (7:1) with attribution to Sprt98 and CC BY-SA 4.0 licensing, and added it to Tongjing. Lewis3044 (talk) 06:21, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- Gokseong – Ddalsv(Kim Daeun) and Jeong21(Kim Minjeong) suggest commons:File:Gokseongststeamlocomotive.jpg as a possible source image for a banner. It shows the steam locomotive at Seomjingang Train Village, including the Gokseong County flag, and represents one of Gokseong's tourist attractions. The original image can be cropped to the required 7:1 aspect ratio while remaining over 1,800 pixels wide. Ddalsv (Ddalsv talk), Jeong21 (Jeong21 talk)
- Imsil – chaewon12(Yang chaewon) suggests commons:File:Imsilgun_County_60_(16850097752).jpg as a possible source image for a banner. The image is proposed as a representative image of Imsil for the Wikivoyage page banner. The original image can be cropped to the required 7:1 aspect ratio while remaining over 1,800 pixels wide. chaewon12 (chaewon12 talk)
- Cheongyang – I suggest a new custom banner featuring Janggoksa Temple in Cheongyang County, South Korea. The banner is cropped to a 7:1 aspect ratio and is available on Wikimedia Commons at commons:File:JangGok temple in Cheongyang, South Korea (cropped).jpg. Hyunhang (talk) 06:22, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- Daqing – I suggest File:Lake view and pumpjacks in Daqing 20250530160923 (cropped).jpg as a possible banner for Daqing. The image shows Daqing's lake scenery and oil industry. It has been cropped to a 7:1 aspect ratio for use as a Wikivoyage banner. ([https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lake_view_and_pumpjacks_in_Daqing_20250530160923_%28cropped%29.jpg image on Wikimedia
- For Zhoushan, I suggest using File:Zhoushan banner.jpg as the banner image. The image shows the islands, sea, and bridge around Zhoushan, giving readers a good first impression of the area. The image is 2,784 × 398 pixels, with an approximately 7:1 aspect ratio, meeting the banner size requirements.
