User:Wauteurz (extension of temporary Interface Adminship)
Hello all. Half a year ago I expressed hope that Vector 2022 would be better fit for us by now. Judging by the update log of the skin, however, nothing significant has changed. I assume that Vector 2022 as it sits now is the long-term version we'll keep, but I do also still have a couple of changes to our Main Page templates in the pipeline that should make Wikivoyage's landing page's appearance to new and non-signed in readers more appealing (namely tweaking Mapbanner and the JCaroussel). Implementing those, assuming they get a solid consensus, would be helped by retaining this role. Currently, my Interface Admin role expires on June 10th, and I'd like to have that extended by another half year to ensure that nothing breaks, and to further improve Wikivoyage's appearance in the skin.
Please chime in with your opinion below. I'm of course available for questions if needed :)

- Support a trusted contributor with technical skills many of us lack. Ground Zero (talk) 15:41, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Of course! Would you like to have these permissions permanently? Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:20, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Honestly, I'm on the fence. My personal life was the reason I went with temporary rights the last time, and that still applies to some extent. I am open to accepting it though, unlike back in 2021. Things do seem to be headed the right way after all, but I am not sure that now is the time to commit to the role permanently. You (all) could definitely convince me to accept it now, but as it sits currently I think I'd rather make my decision when a second term comes to an end.
― Wauteurz (talk) 17:12, 25 May 2025 (UTC)- So support for a second term now. –LPfi (talk) 18:33, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

- Support, also if Wauteurz would want them permanently. --Ypsilon (talk) 16:38, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek: after a unanimous vote six months ago, Wauteurz was granted temporary Interface Adminship. No complaints were made about their use of these powers. Is there any need to waut 14 data on this, or can we make this an immediate renewal, which would ve cancelled if there were any objection, which there won't be? Ground Zero (talk) 19:00, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- As their rights won't expire in these 14 days (actually 7, for temporary with no objections), there is no difference between waiting and renewing conditionally. If we are to revert the renewal in case of objections, there is no point in not waiting. On Swedish Wikipedia, most admin rights renewals (the term is one year only) end 30-0, 30-1 or so, but we feel it is important to keep this renewal procedure. Making exceptions may lead to not making an exception feeling as a statement – better keep to the rules with no drama. –LPfi (talk) 19:16, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- No objection from me. I don't know if we have any rules about votes for extensions of permissions, but it seems like because we already agreed the user in question is trustworthy, it should be unnecessary to be as rigorous as when making the initial decision. I see LPfi's point, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:21, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed; though I think we can extend this such that it will be another 6 months from when Wauteurz's perms expire, not when this nomination closes. //shb (t | c | m) 23:41, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- That's logical. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:58, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

SHB2000 for checkuser
SHB2000 is both an experienced bureaucrat on Wikivoyage and highly knowledgeable on technical issues behind the scenes. We've had increased instances of sockpuppetry on the website but we don't have the critical tool in-house to combat it: the checkuser tool, which enables its user to check accounts' IP addresses to see if they match. This role is solely to fight long-term abuse, per Wikivoyage:CheckUser.
For full transparency, we need two checkusers approved by 25 votes each to implement checkusers on Wikivoyage. I recognize that's a tall order, but we should at least try to reach that number given the assistance this tool would provide us in fighting constant vandalism and doppelgangers. I'm happy to vote for anyone else who puts themselves forward as a second checkuser candidate. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 00:31, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

- Support but I would strongly encourage adopting a flexible policy that allows stewards to process routine CheckUser requests as is the case with my home wiki. That way, stewards can continue to handle cases without having to unnecessarily contact local CheckUsers, and local members of this community can ask the stewards if, for instance, the existing checkusers are inactive. - I've proposed something like that at Wikivoyage talk:CheckUser#Stewards – I think that's what the enwikibooks policy is as well? (to my understanding, at least – we're usually very positive to global rights holders here anyway) //shb (t | c | m) 06:54, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

OhanaUnited (checkuser)
As per this discussion on the pub, I am nominating Ohana to be the site's third checkuser. The candidate has been a sysop here for more than 18 months now and has been a long-standing trusted admin on both enwiki and Wikispecies (where they are also a bureaucrat), and also has helped with anti-vandalism on this site. //shb (t | c | m) 04:19, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I accept the nomination. I was a Checkuser clerk for English Wikipedia between 2008 and 2012 (and occasionally still guest appearance as one[1]). I hope I can put my previous knowledge to good use for the benefit of this project. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:07, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Because the nomination seems to present the nomination as conditional ("in case either SelfieCity or myself go inactive"). Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:25, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
